Before becoming a 'Chartered Accountant' & using designatory letters ACA or FCA, all ICAEW members must successfully complete at least 3-years training with an authorized organisation & pass tough exams embracing financial management, auditing, business strategy, taxation & IT.

• Invest time in finding the right accountant
• Arrange to meet at least three firms
• Check they offer the services that you require
• Ask for their fee structure and payment terms
• Ask who at the firm is undertaking your work
• Look for the letters ACA or FCA after their name
• Ask if your first consultation is chargeable
• Check if they are authorised for specialist work
• Ask for references and speak to existing clients
• Ask for a copy of their Terms after your meeting
